This was one of the best selling films of 1985 and completely blew me away in its innovative use of time travel and the use of the cool, but mechanically flawed and financially crippled Delorean sports car. I recall seeing one of these driving round Wellington, New Zealand in 1992 and a former car dealer client has an original one that remains unregistered. The told me a funny story of the head of Ford in the UK visiting them and being taken out for a spin in the Delorean. They got pulled over by the Police, who let them off because they were so impressed at the car!
The same client had a Sinclair C5 in their storeroom, but that vehicle is another post!
The film starred Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd and was directed by Bob Zemeckis. I believe Back to the future 2 was filmed alongside the first movie because they were concerned over continuity of actors, particularly whether Michael J Fox would retain his boyish looks.

There is not much more to say about the film except it has to be as near a "must own" as any film of the 80's and remains popular today. One trivia fact is the film features a cameo appearance by Huey Lewis who tells Marty and his band at band tryouts that they are "too damned loud".
Here are some fun clips:
